There is also a huge network of well described and signposted walking and hiking paths. When walking or hiking you will be able to explore Switzerland’s nature in all its forms and colours. Trekking tours from mountain to mountain can be organised and scheduled over several days. They are currently still an insider tip but become increasingly more popular.
Cable cars in the surrounding area (Corviglia/Piz Nair, Corvatsch/Furtschellas, Diavolezza and Muottas Muragl/Alp Languard) allow those who are unable to make the trip on foot to still explore the nature around Sils.
Hiking trips around the Silsersee lake are especially popular with families. There is no real need to take a packed lunch as many cottages offer local speciality foods and drinks.
If Nordic Walking or running are among your favourites you will appreciate that there are many marked and signposted running routes for you to use. This involves everything from flat running routes to hill challenges.
No matter how you like to exercise, it is definitely good for you and Sils – with its fresh air – is the right place to be active.

Why go far away, if all you are looking for is right at your doorstep? Sils has two lakes the Silser See and the Silverplanersee. These lakes – located in the fascinating mountainous setting of Oberengadin – are a great location for all different types of water sports.
Because of the favourable wind conditions sailing is possible on both lakes.
Sils is also home to the highest commercial shipping route in Europe. Regular crossings operate between Sils and Maloja. This – again – shows that it is not always necessary to travel far away to feel true freedom and ease. And after a relaxing trip on the boat you can always cool down with a refreshing swim in one of the lakes.
